Mahfuz Kamal

Newcastle University

Mahfuz is a Ph.D. researcher in battery technologies, with the prestigious Faraday institute studying at Newcastle University. He is studying the novel application of rapid discharging end of life (EoL) batteries into a local energy network, generating a revenue stream which can be used to offset recycling costs. This project aims alleviate the laborious burden from traditional discharging techniques and promote improved utilisation of an EoL battery by reclaiming residual energy left in batteries. Moreover this provides a safe and controllable means to ensure the battery is stable prior to the subsequent recycling steps.
